After finishing college Ken served three years in the Army. He then returned to his home state, Mississippi, to teach school and work on a Master's degree in Mathematics and Physics. After teacing four years and receiving the Master's degree he went to work in industry where he worked with two oil companies as a computer programmer, systems analyst, and eventually managed a staff of programmers and analysts. In 1986 after the oil crisis and reaching age 50 he was early retired. He then enrolled in the Seminary following a call from God for full-time Christian service. After finishing two more degrees at the Seminary he served on staff there while working on the PhD. After receiving the PhD and turning 65 he retired from the seminary to begin serving full-time at New Zion. He had come to New Zion in 1990 for a visit to see if God was leading him to this area to minister and on the first of January 1991 he came on staff as Minister of Education and Outreach on a part-time basis while still at the seminary. In 2000 he became full-time at New Zion and took on the additional responsibility of working with Senior Adults.
